2026 Surviving Sepsis Campaign guidelines just released

The Surviving Sepsis Campaign (SSC), a joint initiative of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) and the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), released two new guidelines on the management of sepsis and septic shock.

These guidelines provide clinicians with updated recommendations based on new clinical evidence published since the previous guidelines and new guidance for questions not previously addressed. In addition to new recommendations regarding screening, antimicrobial therapy, and hemodynamic management, each guideline also comes with considerations for low-resource settings and usability material to help treatment at the bedside.
